I make photographs (mostly analogue), poems and zines as part of my creative practice in which I apply aspects of psychogeography to explore urban and rural landscapes.
Psychogeography is an interdisciplinary activity which uses walking as a means to study the effects of spaces and places on the emotion and behaviour of individuals.
In February 2023 I took part in a walking conversation with Andrew Stuck of Talking Walking (Museum of Walking). The audio recording of our walking conversation can be heard here: https://www.talkingwalking.net/julius-smit-talking-walking/
I am a member of The Wander Society, and am based in East Sussex, within reach of the eastern end of the South Downs National Park.
