I make photographs (mostly analogue), poems and zines as part of my creative practice, using aspects of psychogeography to explore urban and rural landscapes.
Psychogeography is an interdisciplinary activity which uses walking as a means to study the effects of place on the emotion and behaviour of individuals.
In February 2023 I took part in a walking conversation with Andrew Stuck of Talking Walking (Museum of Walking). The audio recording of our walking conversation can be heard here: https://www.talkingwalking.net/julius-smit-talking-walking/
I am a member of The Wander Society, and am based in East Sussex, not far from the eastern end of the South Downs National Park.
